Have you ever had the thought "I can't do that because _____" ?
You have the goal, you have the big dream and you WANT to get out there and do something about… But, maybe your mind keeps telling you that you can't do it because you've never done it before. You'll fail trying. You'll do it wrong and everyone will laugh at you..
This isn't such a bad thing. You could actually look at that excuse as an opportunity. Because your mind is looking for all the things that could go wrong -- which is giving you the answer to what is standing in your way of making it happen.
Now, you know what the worst case scenario is, can you handle it? YES.
Truthfully -- what's the worst that can happen? If you do fail? You'll learn, you'll grow and you'll get up and try again.
Think of learning something new like learning how to walk, you probably fell down more than 100 times before you finally did it. But if you didn't take the first step, you never would have mastered the art of walking.
I’m here to tell you that your inner critic will hold you back from every single ambition you have if you let her. She will stand in your way and stop you from stepping forward into the badass future version of you that you are SO READY to become.
She can be your friend, she’s just trying to keep you safe. Love her for that. But you don’t listen to your friends that tell you you’re not good enough — do you?
Look at her as Scared Lil Sally. She wants you to do the same things over and over. Because it’s “safe” and familiar. You feel comfortable on repetition — Even if it’s sabotaging your dreams and goals.
If you listen to her, you won’t level up. You won’t evolve into the badass version of you that you so dream of being. You’ll keep revolving. Thinking of all the things, but not taking action on any.
Ask yourself —
What is the dream I want for myself?
Am I working towards it?
Or am I listening to my inner critic and letting her control my life?
Tell her to shhh, and then take one step into THAT direction.
